Default ABS Issue

I've been having this problem w/ the abs but its been getting worse lately so I think its about time to do something about it. When it acts up it usually does it within the first 5 minutes that I start to drive. I will be braking and my low traction light will come on for no reason and the brake pedal will become really stiff and it'll seem like most of my braking goes away for a few seconds then the stiffness in the pedal goes away and i can brake just fine again. Usually after this happens my abs inop light will come on and once that does it never happens again till the next time I drive. Have any of you had this problem before?

SJM kit, dude. I'm very happy with mine still. The only issue I had is it seemed like I couldn't get a straight flare with the provided tool. I know others manage to use it just fine and I hate to sound like a noob blaming tools, but I can't otherwise explain why I couldn't get a decent flare with either the SJM tool OR the one I rented from AZ, yet as soon as I borrowed a nice old Imperial (brand, not the measurement standard) flaring tool I flared all 6 lines in a row first try with nice flares. Afterward I tried to do the same on some extra line with all 3 tools and the Imperial was the only one I could get a decent flare with.
