Like I said before, slow down, take a "look see" to find out how bad your problem really is.

The factory parts are better than those found in the cheap cast kits. Your $1,800.00 budget is good for a rebuild and not much more (if you assemble the motor yourself).

You really need to study a little before you take the next step.

I think your first step should be organize your tools/parts and clean your f'ing garage. Nothing good can come out of that stye. Once you are organized and cleaned up then you can pull the block down and have a look if you must but my suggestion would be to take it to a machine shop and have them explain to you what your options are.

Take the offer...TAKE THE OFFER!!! You need help, admit it. I used to be like you and try to do it on my own...I FUCKED my engine up the first time. After that I got help. Gregrob saved my *** several times and thanks to him and ALOT of the guys on here I learned my lesson and now I have a DAMN good running LT1.....Don't be a fool, Ramair just gave you a good deal, take it...seriously, do yourself a favor.

Yeah that's a bad *** deal I would take it. But if you do decide to go stoker don't waste your money on those cast parts I just realized you were getting ready to put spray on go forged and do it right the first time

If you do find yourself having to get a rebuild there is a shop called Burtonsville Machine in Laurel, MD that has a builder who specializes in LS and LT engines. They probably have all kinds of spare parts either at the shop or have good contacts if you need to redo the rotating assy. You could probably have a new stock shortblock built by them for a pretty reasonable price. Their number is:
