I was told by a shop its 2.5 from the cat to the muffler and 2.25 out of the muffler to the tailpipes. i thought it was 2.75 in and 2.5 out so i bought a 3 in muffler and 2.75 out knowing they'd have to downsize it a bit. they ended up having to downsize it a bit more than i thought. it still looks good but here's a comparison for you with my 3 in 2.75 out muffler vs the stock piping.

because i got a really good deal on the muffler ($86 shipped new) and only paid $70 to have it welded in. I also did not like the magnaflow catback's large truck tips so i wanted to keep my stock quad tips. Since my car is pretty much stock i didn't feel the need to spend $400 + install for a 3" catback.

cut the cat and replace with a stright pipe, putting a glaspack in its place is useless lol. and id keep the magnaflow muffler. its better than a glasspack and will last alot longer

the muffler will, i had a flowmaster 40 series and a i pipe inplace of the cat and had no crackle or pop except when cold at a high rpm. the muffler change help much more than the cat removel. id think putting a glasspack would cause a noise esp when it blows out in a week lol.
