I went to the track this weekend for the 1st time sence the ai custom cam. I ran a 8.46 @ 86 mph 60' ?spining? on street tires. On the last pass of the day I did my burn out like normal. Then as the light just turned green felt the car hook prity good followed by a loud CLUNK sound. I got it towed home and the pinon ate up the teeth on the ring.
What do ya think? should I go to the junk yard and see if I could find a series 3 carreer w/ stock gears OR just buy a new set of 3.42 gears? I don't want to put any more agressive gears until I save up for a 9inch. To much spining w/ 4.10's.

This person said the race was too good to miss so the quality sucks but here is nothing lol.

Yup, Riken Raptor street tires.
Gimmie some sticky's and a rear that won't brake I'll get mine in the 7's lol. I was only launching it at 18-2000rpms feathering it out the hole.

Your mph is getting there. Id say focus on getting a better rear. And some Hoosier QTPs and you should be in the 7.8 range. Id imagine you should be able to eventually run at least mid 7's. I cant imagine that the hotcam would out perform a AI grind. For what its worth. My hotcam went 7.75@87.5mph on a 1.61 60ft at 3600lbs. So if you can get your 60ft down to 1.6-1.7 and change gears to 3.90-4.11 with a new rear you should be flyin.

I'm still runing on a mail order tune and that was my 1st day at the track. For what its worth it was lots of fun. I was planing on buying the new 185cc trickflow heads but after this weekend I'm gonna save up for a 9inch and just spray the b*tch.
Thats what its all about! get it dialed in on motor with a new rear and sticky tires you should move out! Mine was on a pcmforless as well!
