Absolutely. It's just as stout as their double roller. In fact it's made with the same detail parts that Cloyes uses to make the LT4 ED for GM, minus the WP drive provisions. And it will fit tighter than the GM part. Cloyes made the GM part number timing sets looser at the request of GM to accomodate the assembly line process. I've spoken with Cloyes at length about this, mostly with one of their now-retired employees. The pins in the chain are the weakest link, therefore there is no benefit at all with their double roller over this part. In the old days, there were advantages of the double roller - less wear on the crank sprocket the main one. With better modern lubricants, the need for the additional surface contact area and resulting less contact load, has diminished. BUT.........old school guys still like "double roller", so there's still a big market regardless of advantage.

that is great info! Only thing is, wouldnt the links hold up in a double roller format because the forces are more distributed upon it?

I just got that Cloyes set in yesterday from Summit. It looks VERY beefy and strong. I am very impressed.

Just looking at it gives me peace-of-mind that it will be more than sufficient

What about GM #12371043 ? It looks like a stout single roller that also comes with the retainer and bolts. The price looks decent too. I was thinking about using that one.

ZZ4 replacement? It uses all the same parts as an LT4 set minus the special gear for the water pump.Have had it to 7k many times. They cost about 55 bucks.Works with 96-97 and the reluctor fits also
