I got lucky, chrome moly six point, I think its a Wolfe, came out of a wrecked LS1 SS, $250 then installed for $100. $350 is less than the thing would have cost new before shipping, not too bad of a deal.

Has anyone used anything besides paint on the door bars though? I flop the harness over the bar before getting in, and well now the paint is missing in some spots.
I'm going to use a product called POR-15. I used it on the roll bar in my Chevelle, and it is very durable.

Well, mine isn't a DD, so no big deal for me.

You might want to check the legality of the low-slung bars....some tracks do not consider the point of connection to the hoop high enough on these set-ups. Just something to check out before going to the expense and hassle of installing a roll bar.

Ive seen some carbon fiber tape used on the door bars. Protects them and it looked great!

Don't know. I have an IHRA track that I go to and I don't ever see my turd running faster than an 11.49.
Besides that a full paint job for this pile is next on the list...

i think the door bar has to be elbow height where it passes your body. i'm not really a fan of bars being bent when they don't have to be. it becomes a stress point if the car ever rolls.

According to the NHRA door bars are supposed to mount to the main hoop between the drivers elbow and shoulder when seated and holding the steering wheel. So basically transect the bicep. I'm assuming it's supposed to help keep your arms in the car incase something happens.....Than again last time I checked on the cage deal it was 5 years ago

The workmanship is very nice, but it absolutely does matter. The best places to tie those bars in is at the rear springs or shocks (or add a X-bar and hit both points). Your rear bars will give little aid in taking the flex out of your launch. How tall are you? The door bars seem to be a little high (maybe you sit further forward?).

I get what you're saying, but I also trust the guy who built this - we'll see how it reacts, and whether the chassis is stiff enough.

I'm 6'-4", and the bar is at the correct location for where I sit in my car.

Eh its my DD, I don't think I'm ever going to be quick enough in a straight line to ever need it anyway. I just got it due to me not being able to resist corner carving and the price was right, hopefully I never lose the car, but if I do I hope the mods I have done keep me from ending up dead.
