Default 4l60e

Is there any difference between a 97 firebird and a 95 camaro 4L60E? I sold my tranny out of my 97 and the guy I sold it to just called me saying that it doesn't work, it won't move the car when it is on the ground and when it is on the lift and you put it in a forward gear the wheels spin backwards. It worked just fine when I pulled it out??

apparently the solenoids are different between years. happened to a friend of mine that bought a 95 or 96 4l60e to have it built for his 94 and was told not to use it by the builder.

BTW there is an automatic transmission section you might want to direct this question to.

Yes they are different, the 94-95 have no pwm and tcc, the 96-97 do.

The 95 has the PWM TCC. The 94 does not.

At some point in 96, the tail housing was changed with the VSS on the passenger side.

seems like this forum is only for optispark questions and AI vs LE but if you read the text below the forum you enter you will be mistaken. the red circle is where you posted, the green circle is where i suggested you ask the question to maybe get a better answer. what looks like a better choice? seriously.

I know, give me a break. Hardly anyone with an LT1 lurks in any of the other forums. We have become the bastard children of the fbody community and I thought I had someplace safe to ask questions without being assaulted over the internet. I guess I was wrong and my LT1 related questions are no longer welcome here either...

I know i could get in it right now and smoke out the neighborhood. I wish i had a good answer for ya about that trans, but idk sorry man.

I called and talked to a technician over at performabuilt this morning and picked his brain about this situation, he informed me that the only realy difference between the two trans is the 2-3 shift solenoid. He also said that it wouldn't explain the car not moving at all so chances are that the guy I sold it to did not fully seat the torque converter and in turn has more than likely ruined the pump. The guy thinks I sold him a bogus tranny and I know that the tranny worked when I pulled it out 3 weeks ago. I gave him the trans, torque converter, lines, and shifter **** for 150 bucks and he took what should have been one hell of a deal and turned it into a big PITA for both of us. He wants his money back and I don't think I should refund him anything so...

Ask the idiot how much fluid he put in it. These things take a ton of fluid after a filter change and are damn rear impossible to fill on jack stands. tell him to fill it on the ground, I doubt it has enough fluid in it.

Tell him to pull it out and bring it all back. If the pump is screwed as suspected keep your money if its not well thats up to you what you wanna do.

Does he have his shifter cable adjusted correctly? That'd do it.
