intake question
intake question ok i i have saw many times guys putting carb intakes on lt1s and then running a distributor instead of the opti. how does this work do the lt1 blocks need any machining to have the rear mount distribitors?? what do they do about were the opti use to be. anythign will help i am thinking abotu doing this for my 408 sts turbo build 
There is an intake that is made for the lt1 heads and has the hole for a distrib. You can buy a plug to go in the front cover where the opti is. As for the block it uses a oil pump drive gear that bolts in where the distrib would go and run off the cam as well as drive the oil pump. Take out the oil pump drive and install manifold and install distrib using correct drive gear.
