help with cold starts!!! So my car cranks for a bit when its cold then turns on and when its warm it turns on instantly .The car is a 1994 camaro lt1 with longtubes and intake and a new fuel pump. Do you all think it could be the fuel pump? Its wierd because after the first cold start it turns on good after that and I mean super good.All it takes is one spin from the starter and it fires instantly when its at warm temp
I used to have the same problem. It's very likely due to not having adequate fuel pressure in the rails when you cold start.
Check the fuel pressure in the rails BEFORE you crank it over. There should be fuel pressure there before you start cranking. Otherwise the pump has to fill the rails and build pressure before it will start.
This could be due to a couple of things.
1. The check valve in the fuel pump isn't working.
2. An injector or injectors are leaking after the car is shut down
3. The fuel pressure regulator is leaking down.
