Yesterday we warmed the car up and the noise did not come back. We still did a mechanical inspection (valve covers off) and found nothing out of the way. After that we did a leak-down test and all cylinders were10-12%. So, no problem there.
The decision was then made to take Jason bracket racing. We ended up at Union. He did very well until he spun in the third round, so he is getting some good seat time. We do have to put a stop on the gas peddle, because Jason broke his third throttle cable!
At the end of the evening the noise was back, so we are now leaning towards a minor head gasket failure (cylinder to cylinder). We also have something leaking on the passenger front caliper that will have to be repaired before we run again.
All in all things are going well, so we should start the new car soon.

I haven't told him enough, but I pretty proud of what Jason has done in so little time. Here's another one.
