How do I fix this?

Default How do I fix this?

Sorry for the general post but this was a V6 car. Now has an LT1 and some ebay headers. This is the problem Im running into,..









What can cause this? ,...worn motor mounts? cheap headers?

What can fix this?

Probably a combination of both.

What some people have done is unbolt the three bolts holding the column to the firewall and "slot" the bolt holes to move the column ever so slightly to clear the headers, although yours looks pretty severe and that likely won't be the ideal solution.

You can also shim the motor mounts.

clearance the header tube. i had to do it with my old cheapos, and my 600$ dougs has a notch in the tube to clear the steering components.

this may not be as easy with ur f-body but its my.02. maybe u can do as stated above with moving the column, and put a small dent in the header tube. and a small dent wont restrict flow enough to worry about.

Check the mounts first that driver side likes to become a pancake after years of service. I had the same problem and clearanced the header and moved the column over a bit and after my engine swap I realized that it was just the mounts being worn out.

Thanks alot for the input guys, I remember when the first LPP's came out people would move the column over, but as mentioned above I thought mine was too bad for that.

I will start with replacing the mount(s).
