What is this/where does it go?
What is this/where does it go? Alright, I hate my first post to be about something wrong but I have to anyway. I got in an accident that damaged the front bumper area on my 93 trans am. While pulling the bumper cover off, I found this black canister looking thing on the passenger side.
It came from this area.
Any ideas as to what it is, or where it came from? To me it looks to be sealed all the way around except for the top where it seems to have broken off of something.

I don't know what the heck its actually called, but I just removed it from my car as well. It has vacuum lines that go up the passenger side of the engine bay, and into the interior. I believe it had something to do with controlling the HVAC crap, which I've already deleted, as mine's a track car

i believe like ladydriven said i is a vacuum canister for the hvac. If you intend to remove the a/c then just remove it all. if not then where do you live i might still have mine i remove off of my 93.

It is the vacuum reserve tank for the HVAC controls. The vacuum hose goes back up to the check valve. If you remove the tank, you will have to plug the port at the valve (or just remove the valve-it won't be needed if there is no tank). Without the tank, your HVAC controls will not work or be slow to respond when there is low engine vacuum. The air flow will default to the floor and defrost positions when this occurs.

Second quick question, would this cause the engine throw a SES light? I haven't gotten to an advance auto or anything to get the SES checked yet so no code to check right now.
