one for me but it was a 383 build so we shall see how long a summit unit lasts. Stocker had 94k on it but when it came off I can here parts ratling around inside. I don't have the damn tool to take it apart. I need to go get one so I can see what it was.

Never had one fail. Bought into the internet hype about how "bad" it is and blamed it for a drivability problem about 8 years back. Problem turned out to be a dead injector.

Once I did have a cap and rotor wear enough to cause a 190K mile car to run bad in the rain.

I bought my first opti equipped car over 10 years ago been DD/playing with them since, owned three. I find them to be pretty reliable, but then I am competent with a wrench and take the time to understand things so I don't have the problems other people CAUSE themselves.

I'm still on my stock one *as far as I know* I haven't had any problems with it yet. (KNOCKS ON WOOD) 112k miles and 20K of them cammed and abused!

Original one had msd cap/rotor and still worked fine

Just switched it out while I changed plugs, wires, etc.

If any problems arise with this one, I'll just switch back or hit up thepartsladi

Two- and the original still works and is being kept as a backup. I replaced it with the last engine build just because. The first one had the rotor screw problem after 30K miles, but was fixed and worked just fine after that. Spinning the second one past 7,000rpm w/out issue as of yet...

One. I replaced it around 125k, it was missing bad. This happened after I deployed to Japan, when I came back the person I let borrow my car only drove it maybe 1-2 times. I don't think all the sitting around helped it much. MSD opti replaced it, it had just came out. No issues with it, shame it was on my stock motor, new motor is 95+ setup.

They have a bad rap, but there is no reason for it, Opti's in general or MSD optis. I love it when people say they are hard to replace also, I'm down to 4 hours with beer to change one out start to finish. That is not that long, I waste more time than that on a daily basis probably.

I replaced my original optispark at close to 100K after my car had sat in storage for six years. I'm pretty sure my water pump had been leaking on it before I put the car away.

Msd sells a new cap and rotor for them. That's what I put on my stocker the last time I had it out. Don't know that there is much else you can do to it.

I usually change mine every 2 years or so almost like a tune up. It's an autozone unit though so it doesn't cost me anything and honestly I've had pretty good success with them at my power levels and rpm range.
