Default 94 Z28 Rebuild thread...UPDATED!!

Well guys today i started to teardown of my 94 Z! It has been a long time coming and im excited as hell. Here is what i got done today.

He is how she sat before i started...

The front bumper cover and the passanger fender were trash.

The hood might be trash as well im not sure yet, but the driver fender, spoiler, berger panel and rear bumper cover will be re-used

I got most of the passenger side sanded and ready for filler

I found this crack on the passenger side door

I love my wife!!

After the sanding and body filler i will be putting most of my focus on this..

more to come....

well here is what i have planned, but it could change.

Im going to paint the car Hot Rod black. I have a couple of engine ideas in my head but i havent picked on yet. Either its going to be a pavement pounding 383 or a nitrous friendly 396
The car will see little street time, the occasional saturday night cruise, and more track duty. Its getting a tubular k-member, upper and lower a-arms. Mosier 12 bolt with 3.89s ADJ. torque arm and panhard bar, control arms and all the goodie suspension parts to go with it. Also adding a wolfe 4 point cage for now with provisions to add on later if needed. Im taking my time with this build and doing it right the first time.

Default Update!

Well i got some more work done today. I started by getting the mirrors off and then the back bumper cover, then i could finish the sanding. After that i turned my focus to the interior. After i got the seats out man was it nasty . I had never really thought about taking the carpet out and cleaning in, man i wish i did now. On a good note i did find $6.17 under the carpet! But anayways all of the interior panels are salvageable so i will be cleaning them up and putting them in the classifieds for sale. All in all i got a lot done. Oh and i did decide what engine going with for the build and therefore enjoy the teaser pic at the end!

I went ahead and put the battery where im hopeing to relocate it to

And the teaser

Thanks i appreciate it. The 396 badges came off of our 67 SS396 chevelle, there were still in good shape i figured i would save them for something, glad i did! As for the SS 396 badges, i have thought about them but im undecided for now.

This will be my first engine pull, from a f-body, so any words of wisdom from those who have done this before will be gratley appreciated. For those that might ask, no i dont have a lift....I will be doing this in my 12x30 building. I plan on taking it out from the bottom as well. Good luck! That guide is pretty much spot-on, but doesn't tell you everything to disconnect. It helps if you have a friend to keep an eye on things. Just be careful when lifting the body. There are a bunch of electrical connectors that like to get snagged (ABS).

That's the guide I used except what I did was use a tow strap (check the weight it can pull or hold!) instead of a chain and I just put the rear end on regular rhino ramps, not wheels/tires.
