Default difference in early and late dipsticks

how much of one is there? when i put my lt4 in my 94 dipstick tube didnt want to go in all the way so i cut about an inch off the end. im really just curious why my motor with a stock oil pan took 6 quarts to read full. should i buy a 95-up tube or leave it alone?

I just checked my parts manual, and they are both the same part number.

that confuses me even farther. was there a different one for the vette? i dont get it. we had to cut the bottom inch off of the tube to get it to go in. the stick doesnt hit anything and goes in normally. anyone else have to do this? maybe it was hitting the crank since its a stroker crank.

The stroker crank issue was likely your problem. I had to cut my tube about an inch shorter, too.

4-bolt main caps get in the way of the dipstick.

^What Dwayne said. Also, there are two different dipsticks. the 93-94 and possibly the 95 (not sure) had a different dip stick. It interchanges are far as I know (probably why there is now only one part number) but there were FOR SURE two different sticks. The tube on the other hand, not sure.

Mine usually takes between 5.5-6 quarts of oil to read full. I just did the oil change today and I had to put in 5.75 for it to read full.
mines a 96 camaro.
