CC306 Cam only dyno
I have a 357, similar heads, LT Headers, and a smaller cam with my custom grind but I am still not properly tuned. As Hammer said...My AFR is nowhere near what its supposed to be.......
When you do it with a DA of 3000+ feet in a near 4000lb car with a 2+ second 60' let me know.
-traction
-driver ability
-reaction
-etc.

yea i have been 12.42 @ 107mph and have trapped 109mph stock cam also, i've also gone in the 7.8x's in the 1/8th...
but like he said my raceweight was 3250lbs and my DA was right around 0 or in the negatives.... compared to his 4000lbs and 3000ft DA there is a big difference there
I looked at the F-Body gear calculator and threw some data in and cross referenced it with the dyno sheet.
Shifting at 6000, the rebound into 2nd at 4000. The motor makes ~270 rwhp at 4000.
Shifting at 6600, the rebound into 2nd at 4400. The motor makes ~295 rwhp at 4400.
Shifting at 6800, the rebound into 2nd at 4600. The motor makes ~315 rwhp at 4600.
By winding it out higher, you get more average horsepower throughout your time in each gear. I made a quick spreadsheet to see what your average horse would be. As a former CC306 owner, I made an informed guess at what your power band looked like after 6000 rpm with stock heads.
4000 rpm through 6000 = ~325 average horsepower.
4600 rpm through 6800 = ~338 average horsepower.
I had a 4000 stall and a CC306 with LE2 heads and it needed more converter. Re-stalled it for 5000, and it ran like a raped ape.
Edit: IMO, there are a lot better cam choices out now than when I got the CC306 many years back. Bigger is not always best. Grab a custom cam for the rpm you want to run.

Yes the CC306 is old technology but I still can't think of one single LT1 cam out there that will put down the numbers the 306 will on the stockers. Yes the low end is sluggish but the monster top side more than makes up for it. With some gears and the right stall you can really run some impressive times with this cam.
throwing **** out like "a proper combo" well maybe a big cam is part of the "proper combo"?
I had a 242/250 with stock heads in my old '94 formula and it just flat out hauled *** from the moment I touched the gas pedal. it was part of a "proper combo" though.
