Exclamation someone please help me diagnose this

for the last 2 months my car has done this 4 times this is the most recent...
it only does it when in gear and moving.

i had just started it up and was pulling around to the back of the building at work to drop off my bags and it did the same ******* thing!! this time i could tell more of what happened. all of the information lights that come on when you turn the ign. switch on flash and go off. dash backlights stay on. engine hesitates for a split second, almost like it spits back through intake.

this is so irritating b/c it's never consistent, it could be a million different things causing it, and it startles me every time it does it. :banghead:

i've checked the battery terminals and they are clean and tight. battery cables look fine.

i don't think it's the ignition switch b/c for one it is only a couple years on and when it went out the first time the symptoms were different.

i don't think it's a loose ground or it would do it more often from bumps in the road.

could it be in the PCM?? or what the heck is it??

It could be a ground and its just not THAT loose. I had the same thing. Mine only did it a couple times but it was random as hell. I couldnt figure it out. Eventually it got to where I couldnt even get the car to turn over. I had a buddy turn the key to the start position and hold it there while I messed with wires...risky i know but it worked lol. I figured out that mine was the ground from my starter and it would get sideways and get a good ground but every once in a while I would jolt it lose and it would mess up till I mess with ****, then it will get stuck in there again and be good for a while. Are you popping any codes at all?

Check the batt cables to make sure they are not worn down somewhere. Make sure the alt lead is not pinched or worn as well. Grounds are always good place to start. I'm dealing with a bad ground right now but I have to find time to work on it.

just got home and sprayed water around the alternator cable where the insulation looked thin and got no arcing. nowhere under the hood did i see any arcing in the alt. or anywhere else.

where is the pcm ground located?

is there anything in the instrument panel that could be making the hesitation? i have blue LED's and the one behind the battery gauge is flickering, although it hasn't been flickering the entire time it's done this. so i guess the LED is just going out.

LOL...

I don't expect you would see any "arcing" unless maybe you are spraying a concentrated salt water solution. And even then I have doubts.
