Based on your info, sounds like a bad throwout bearing.

I had a growling sound anytime the clutch pedal was pressed. The pilot bushing was wore out and the tranny input shaft would flop around a bit. TOB was fine.

I say the pilot bushing followed by the TOB.

No, it'll make sounds when it is. With the clutch pedal not depressed, the bearing isn't spinning.

Possible caus if it does, the fork will bang on the pressure plate. Red locktite the fork bolt in. Once you pull the tranny, it will be very obvious what the problem is.

74# flywheel with loctite
22# on the PP bolts with loctite
26# for the tranny bolts
35# for the bell housing bolts
~15# for the fork bolt with locktite
~10# for the slave nuts
snug for the 4 inspection plate bolts

Thats all you need for a clutch install.

yes, and dont forget to get clutch fork off of throwout bearing and drain as much of the tranny fluid as possible. might sound dumb that i am saying it but its happened to me and some friends on a couple occasions.

you pull the fork away from the tranny....towards side of car to disengage fork from TO bearing

pic shows fork when it is ON the TO bearing with tranny in.

ok, so i took the slave cylinder out of the bellhousing and the clutch fork has lots of play, like it can move back and forth side to side very easily, do you think this could be the pivot bolt has come loose?
