I've got a curse with every vehicle I've ever owned. the list goes on forever so I'll just cover my '96 z, course it doesn't help I enjoy(some say abusively?) all my vehicles
-second season of owning it I had to get the tranny rebuilt since the reverse synchro and gear was shot which was def due to the previous owner since I know better than abusing it in reverse. I also got the parts to refresh my centerforce which was clapped out but the shop that was taking out and re-installing the tranny(I was too busy fishing) played ignorant and went ahead and threw in a stock clutch which ran me an extra $500!!!!

-summer after that I snapped the tq arm in half matting the gas in 1st blowing the rear seal on the tranny. I had to go fishing in a few hours from then so I just had it towed to a mechanic I had trusted and just told him I F**ked up somin. I got in a few days later find out he went ahead and replaced the tq arm with another stocker. total bill for that was $1200

-the next summer I had to redo my exhaust after pulverizing a stock engine mount which made 2 exhaust hangers let go too. the primaries were leaking so I got new used mids off here. my borla needed welding around the muffler and y section. the cat was also junk so I told the exhaust shop to clamp a cheap one on and give me a piece of pipe I could throw on since they couldn't legally. get in from fishing and find out they threw on a random tech cat

-summer after that the rear of the intake mani started leaking on me worst part was I was told it was the rear main when I had the trans & rear end fluids changed and I took the mechanics word for it instead of confirming the location personally.
it didn't get really bad till last summer which wasn't a very good year for me fishing wise. I was still busy tho and didn't want to spend my occasional day off working on it and not driving it so I brought it to that same mechanic to fix the leak and put the centerforce back in. but after wards he realized it was the intake mani, another waste of $600
I figured I've got to do somin more than just swap gaskets if I the intake is going to come off and didn't want to spend that kind of money at a shop, never mind trying some one actually qualified to work on it around here. so I scraped up enough to cam it and threw the imp HG's on w/ the spare heads I had to get ported that were fully assembled w/ low mile springs and larger valves and so I sacrificed all sorts of driving time wrenchin on it

unfortunately tho I think I've spent more on traffic citations than all the repairs and mods put together

^you need to put you car up every summer it sounds like.

i was just out looking at my car and the rad is holding water so now i got to figure out why it decided to puke about a gal of fluid out from just ideling today..i started it earlier after it did it about 20 mins later to try and find the leak and it didnt leak..i didnt just run the car now but least i know i didnt split or get a hole in my rad..hoses aint leaking.

damn fans blew fluid every where so i couldnt track down the leak at first..funny part is my temp gauge said 240 and the water that leaked was cold..so im thinking upper hose or so..

lol pretty much! I've gotten 2 maintenance free seasons out of it. I KNOW my rear is going to go on me this season. its been on its way out for 3 seaons now, and this year I'm cammed. and now that I think about it I'm def going to hold off on throwin my LE2's on until next fall or winter. my income has dropped quite a bit since I've got to take some time off from fishin to let my back mend.

But other than for mechanics throwing parts I didn't want on my car I'm not complaining cause like I said I enjoy the **** outta my car its just my previous, well and present DD' history of **** breaking/dieing on me that has me convinced I'm cursed.

yeah I like to do my own work too but when things break on me over the summer I'm usually fishing 6-7days a week. actually the year I re-did my exhaust we had a stretch of 38 days w/ out a day off & only 38hrs on land, usually only get 4-5hrs of sleep a day workin the rest of the day, total robot zombie mode
I'll have plenty of time on my hands this summer tho

Mines been cursed from last February.

Head Gasket Blew- Replaced Head needed work
Bought new heads and cam- Motor spun bearing
Rebuilt Motor- Would not run right took 8 months to find problems
New Clutch went bad- replaced with a new disc and ended up having warped disc
Ordered another clutch- Fixed clutch issue
Rebuilt Engine let go on way to college a few weeks ago. 137 miles on engine. Failed oil pump. Everything is messed up now.
Bought another engine-Should have it running tomorrow
Transmission is on the way out. Hope to make it last over summer.
I have had the car for 2 years and 1 month. I have drove it daily for 10 months. The rest of the time its been broken.
