Starter question

well my stock starter doesnt sound like it likes turning my new motor over. my question is do i need to buy a hi torque starter for a sbc or do i need to find an LT1 specific one?

Any SBC starter designed to be used with your flywheel (153 or 168 tooth, 153 is stock) will work, but you might have clearance issues with headers, dipstick, etc. For that reason, I used a Jegs Pro-torque adjustable starter (formerly CVR). It's Jegs part number 555-10001 and fit just fine (after adjustment, of course).

i was thinking of a tci permanent magnet starter. anyone have any experience with these?

powermaster xs here, cranked the old motor no problem, and don't see any starter issues in my future either.

x2 for powemaster. I recomend a hitachi style starter to gain some clearence for headers and larger oil pan if needed.
