Default Hood scoop idea

So I've seen a few threads on here about cutting out the scoops in the stock camaro hood to be functional. Maybe not so much to ram the air, but to cool down the engine. Sounds cool to me, but I'm worried about getting water through. I was thinking about using some kind of vacuum switch, or having a pull cord to be able to close it if its raining. Has anyone done this? Or have any ideas about making it? I'm gonna do a little thinking about that vacuum switch and I'll let you guys know if I come up with anything.

i dont think it would do anything for performance..it would keep the rear engine cool..if your not running your front bumper you can cut the center section of the noise on the camaro between the fog lights so that whole area can grab cold air and help cool the rad and engine better..im doing this to my car once i swap over to turbo but its more because ill be running my turbo down there and want the ram air on the turbo inlet.

I've been running them open forever, even left the stock mounting brackets in case I felt I needed to put the black plastic inserts back in.

Just cut em out, I drive this thing through heavy rain all the time with no problems, even when I wash it it doesn't really matter.

Water will really only hit the headers/valve cover area, I don't worry about it at all, and I'm sure 99% of us that have them cut out don't either.

I cant see the gains being worth the risks with water collecting on top of the motor. Wet opti anyone?
Nobile effort but I would focus on other things.

Well thats why I'm trying to think of a way to close them up if its raining.. Maybe I'll just make it a manual open/close but then I would have to make sure it's closed up overnight if I think it's going to rain. I dont really drive it in the rain, only if I have to. I'm not really doing it for any performance gains *wwwwhhhhhaaaaa??!!* I know, it would mostly just be to help keep things cooler in the and have somewhat of a unique ride......as unique as a black/black camaro can be ha ha

Just do what I did, dremel out most of the area, but leave the parts where the black piece mounts to.

You'll have like 80% open but retain the mounting bits to put on the inserts when it rains if you're worried.
