Default high fuel pressure?

well i just got done putting my new motor in the car, its h/c/i 355 ltx you can watch it run on youtube just type in 355 ltx, but anyways.. got the motor all in and it has about 50 miles on it, but i have had a terrible time with it, it wont idle at least good, and the brand new rear main is leaking.. and my oil has been blacker than coal with about 15 miles on it and smells like pure gas. well checked the fuel pressure last night, after re-lashing the valves, and with the key on its at 44 and idling at 49, i believe that is high right? what could cause this? fuel pressure regulator? i just dont want to buy a new one and it not be the problem, o yea i have SVO green tops if that makes a difference, and a warblo 255 fuel pump. any suggestions would be appreciated thanks guys

It's a tad higher than factory spec but no cause for concern.

Did you change the tune for the injectors?

Factory spec is 43.5 psi with the vacuum removed from the FPR, and a few pounds less at idle. So you a significantly higher IMHO, about 25% higher than expected. However, all this will do is raise your injector constant, nothing more. So if your injector constant is set to a 43.5 psi value, the injectors are a bit larger than you have entered in the PCM. This would cause a rich condition, but certainly not one I would be greatly concerned about.
What type of FPR are you using, adjustable or not?
I would test for a leaky injector or FPR. If the FPR is leaking, it is usually the diaphram. Pull the vaccum line and see if you are leaking fuel there.
If not, pull the fuel rail and key on. See if any of the injectors are dripping or leaking.
That would be a good start IMO.
Also, verify that you entered the correct injector constant for those injectors. Most SVO injectors are rated at a different pressure than 43.5, so their constant must be adjusted for our pressure.

the injectors are brand new, so i dont/hope they arnt leaking, and i am using just the stock FPR, and the tune is for the green tops so i dont see a problem there, but the motor is definitely to rich. but thanks for all the help i hope its just leaking, then i can replace then i can actually drive my new motor! if anyone else has suggestions shout them out!! thanks guys!

well pulled the vacuum hose off the fpr and i didnt see or feel any fuel, but i did check the vacuum from the intake to the regulator, its only got 10 inches of vacuum and needs like 12-14 inches at idle so the regulator isnt even turnin on at idle so the pressure is high, once you give it alittle gas the regulator kicks in and puts it to about 44 psi which is good, so i guess i have a vacuum problem? how would i add vacuum to the motor? would a mechanical FPR fix the problem? also when you turn the key on its 42-44 but once the engine is on it jumps up, shouldn't it decrease a few psi? so maybe the regulator is bad.. any help guys?
