My personal experience is that SBC plates don't allign correctly (like the Comps). You asked.

Many other people have noticed the same thing.

I'm using a 4800 series set of raised plates with 7/16" studs and 5/16" pushrods. Both are hardened. And were installed correctly, machining the stud bosses at the hands of an engine builder with about 40 years' experience. This man handled every aspect of the head work. I would not trust getting this installation right to anyone with much less experience. As shbox and 95ramairta noted, this can easily be a problematic area and can result in broken stuff... That being said, I'm only at about 1500 miles on the engine after the rebuild. I'll be the first to admit the mistake if it goes wrong.
