Default Back in the LT1 world

Well, I love my Trans Am and all, but still had a soft spot for my old LT1, and missed it. So................... I bought it back today, from the guy I sold it to back in September. Well, my dad bought it for now, until I can afford to buy it back from him. It was too clean of a car, and I loved it so much, that I wanted it back, and couldn't stand to see the guy sell it to someone else. lol. 2nd gear is still gone, so my dad and I are looking into having the tranny rebuilt, and get it back to 100% again. I'm just thrilled to have it back, and to have 2 Fbodies in the driveway. I definately need to do something about the salad shooters though. lol

I sold my old camaro (same color) last year around the same time... I miss mine too, but my old one was a V6. Keep the salad shooters, they don't look that bad! My old polo green Camaro rocked the color quite well.

I know its open to opinion, but LT1 Camaros are some DAMN sexy cars compared to the LS1s.

Grats on getting your baby back

Here's how it used to sound when I had the mufflers up under the seat. I moved them back under the gas tank, because I had ground clearance issues before. But, I haven't been happy with how it sounded after that. So, I think I might end up moving them back under the seats again.

He didn't really drive it enough to trash it. It only has 200-300 more miles on it, than it did when I sold it. It was torn apart all winter though. He took the tranny out, with hopes of fixing 2nd gear, but never had the time to get it done, and just threw it back together, so he could drive it. Hopefully the tranny will be rebuilt sometime in the next few weeks. I should have the oil leak fixed sometime this week. Went in to O'Reillys and ordered a timing cover gasket for it earlier today, to fix that problem. And while I've got the opti off, the engine, and engine bay are getting pressure washed to get all the oil and crap off it, from the leak. I also need to put a window motor in on the passenger side sometime this week too.

I sold my 97 at the end of January and already had to get back in it. Just picked up a "fixxer upper" last weekend and have just enjoyed wrenching on it and driving it around town. Can't wait to get the bugs worked out and get to the track.

LS1 air lid conversion, 52mm tb, Pacesetter LT's, Xpipe true duals with single chambers, 160* tstat, LCAs, PHB, A/C delete pulley, Spec Stage 3 clutch, 3.90 gears, and a MadZ28 tune. I'm fairly sure that's it. With all that's done to the T/A now, it's hard to remember everything done to the Camaro, since I did it all a long time ago. lol. I'm thinking about camming it next winter, if I have it bought back from my dad by then. Or, I might end up doing more to the T/A, like a 9", port the heads and intake, and tune it for E85, to shoot for 550rwhp. But, I'm still a little unsure.

Sweet! After owning a LT1 then a LS1 I also had to get back in a LT. For some reason they just really feel more like a muscle car to me.
Very cool you can have both!

Yeah, the low-end torque of the LT1 is just too addicting. lol. I know the Trans Am is worlds faster than the Camaro, but the Camaro feels about as strong, just because of the low-end torque and gears. I thought about turning the Camaro into a drag car, but it's just such a clean car, that I'd feel bad. haha

I thought that about my car too, now almost nothing is stock. Might as well go to town on it!!!

Out of the 3 Formulas I have had the 96 WS6 was the fastest 13.3, 00 was 2nd fastest 13.4 and the 97 Formy was the slowest at 13.7 but also had the worst exhaust. All 3 were with nitto DRs and catback only.
I did however get the LS1 to run 12.7 by adding a lid, maf,TB,Ram air& hood,HPP+, wires, and some suspension. For some reason I still missed my old LT so i went back one.

Damn, those are some pretty good times. Best I ever did in the LT1 was the 13.2 in my sig. That was before the gears, TB, and clutch. But, still had lid conversion, LT's, true duals, and a tune, on Nitto DR's, with LCA's and a PHB. The clutch was about gone, and exploded into a million pieces the week after that though. lol. Hell, the best I ever did with the LS1 was a 13.6, and that was with a lid, short throw, and DR's. The motor was worn out, and about to go though. Spun a rod bearing a few months later, and the 6.0 build started. The Trans Am will probably be the drag car, if I ever turn either of them into one. But, I still doubt I'll do it. They'll both be fun street cars first and foremost.

Damn, nice times! My turd ran 13.9 stock when I got it AT SEA LEVEL . It was pretty sad, the poor thing was just thrashed hard though from its prior dumbass owner and needed a tune-up and some loving. Never tested it again after the tune-up, since I dove right into the bolt-ons.
