Exclamation Bad Day at Track =( Major Problem Please Help!!!

Well i finally went to the track today after installing my cam and rr's. The car has everything in my signature. Well i went there and all 3 runs this problem happened... I flashed the stall and it hooked with a 1.9 60ft time but when it went to shift to 2nd it hesitated and i assume it hit the rev limiter because it backfired but it would last a second and shift and it the same thing again when it went in to third. This was very disappointing. The best ran i got was a 14.2. Does anyone know whats causing this to happen? I got the computer tuned by MadZ28 so i know its not stall wall. Any ideas at all?? Someone said it was my trans and others said its my converter so i have no clue. Can some please help me out and put me in the right direction??

Definately should be faster then a 14.2, stock mustangs are running that..lol..

I assume you were on street tires with the 1.9 60ft. Sounds like your shift tables need to be adjusted.

My trap speed was 95.07

R/T .514
60' 1.955
330 5.785
1/8 9.022
MPH 73.87
1000 11.880
1/4 14.261
MPH 95.07

I thought that it might needed to be adjusted but i figured they did that with the MADZ28 Tune. I was running 14.1 with just exhaust and CAI practically stock.

That car should be in the low 13's atleast..you need alot more than a shift table adjustment. What's the A/F Ratio?

I'm not sure what the A/F ratio is. Do you think something is wrong with the trans? Do you think i need to put a shift kit in it because there isnt enough line pressure building up to make it shift?

You are a full second off of where you should be. Have the PCM scanned for codes. Also, what brand throttle body are you running, and do you have the TPS voltage adjusted properly?

Also, what was your DA?

The car isnt throwing any codes but do you mean scan the computer itself? The TB is a stock one that is just ported to 52mm. I am not sure on the TPS. Its only 87ft above sea level so thats not the problem

Not all codes set the SES light, so I would have it scanned anyway (along with having it scanned in real-time via Datamaster using a cable/laptop if you have it). Check the TPS because it's easy enough to check with a multimeter. If the voltage is too high at WOT the PCM will freak out and cause transmission shift issues.

You scanned the PCM for DTCs that fast? Awesome!

The blue wire on the TPS is the signal wire to the PCM. With the key on, engine off, voltage should be between .2 and .9v with the throttle closed. Have someone step on the gas slowly until the pedal is to the floor while watching the voltage. It should increase smoothly until it is about 4v higher than your original reading.

Some people will argue that you can just move the throttle by your hand to WOT to test it, but I've found that you can go past the normal WOT by hand as opposed to when using the pedal.

...I will quote my first post.

Not all codes set the SES light, so I would have it scanned anyway

Either way, good luck!

What RamAir is saying is that the trans shifts based on the PCM so if you have a sensor problem like the tps or any number of other things wrong on the engine sensors that the pcm uses to determine shift firmness, shift timing, ect you will think you have a trans problem but you really don't. If you don't fix the problem you will have a trans problem down the road.
