It's been done many times. Just make sure you have springs that can handle the net lift.

I guess im asking does it produce good results. Also does the idle get choppy because of the extreme lift?? My car is a daily driver.

In the end what matters is net duration, lift, and LSA. Whether you get a smaller cam and use a taller ratio rocker, or get a bigger cam and a smaller ratio rocker won't matter much. What I would do if I were you is research your cam choice thoroughly, or get a custom grind. They will most likely state the lift with 1.5 rockers or 1.6 rockers. But with a custom grind, there will really be no need for additional lift and duration in going with 1.7's.

Yes this set up will work just be sure to instal NEW performance valvesprings PAC makes an awesome set...
stock cam w/1.7 rr should be roughly 525 lift, i do not suggest the use of the Lt4 springs they are only 100lbs on the seat you need 125-130....

When I bought the car it had a blown head gasket so I took the heads in to be machined. They told me that the spring preassure on seat is 145# and the C/B is .710... Now im kicking myself for not putting a new cam in when the motor was completely torn apart. Are there any cams that I could run the risk of the valve making contact with the piston??

dont be overly concerned with valve lift be more cautious of duration. big duration like 250+ at .050 begin to cause PTV clearence issues.

There is nothing special about C5 z06 rocker arms. They use the same rockers that all LSx use (excluding the offset rockers used by the L92/LS3 engines). From the little research that I have done, you can use them, but because the rocker was not designed to be used on LT1's, the angle is off and they supposedly would have a side force on the valve stem that could wear out the valve stem guides over time.
