Default LT1 1995 Z28 fuel pump problem

I have a 1995 Z28 Camaro LT1, it was running fine, until I let it sit up for about 8 months. Now the fuel pump wont make a sound or come on. I even tried applying voltage directly to the wire next to the ECM that bypasses the relays.
My question is can sitting up for 8 months without starting the car kill the fuel pump? Thanks for any ideas.

With that little fuel it definately could have destroyed the pump. Id say its time for a new one.

When they are low on fuel, the pump is exposed. If left exposed for too long, the internals of the pump can start to oxidize and rust, resulting in failure.

ok thanks for the info, I got 200,000 miles out of that pump so I might go back stock.
