Default Went to the track - Results

Well if you guys remember, the last time I went to the track, it was an 1/8th mile.. and I only ran like a 9.5@80mph due to spinning like a **** with 2.5 60 fts.

Heres a few runs since at the 1/4 strip up in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mods are in sig: Ebay headers, ory, and slp loudmouth 2 catback, motive 3.73's, and yank ss3600.

The car also is not tuned and smells/feels like its running a little rich

My car fell flat on its face up top. Not sure why

Runs were made with ET Street Radials

60 1.760
330 5.303
1/8 8.283
MPH 82.33
1000 10.964
1/4 13.045
MPH 103.38

60 1.743
330 5.258
1/8 8.245
MPH 81.91
1000 10.837
1/4 13.024
MPH 103.11

Am going to try and readjust the UMI TA next visit and the CE Rear Drag Shocks and add a girdle to my mix of things. Maybe add Daves94formula's 50 shot to get me well into the 12's

Post up some tips for making more power up top and why the car is falling flat on its face

Times seem good threw the 1/8th. Spray that beech and let it rip the heck with a 50 go bigger and be glad you did! lol

Very nice times! You should get a tune and run some 12's on motor. My car was running rich and falling off a little up top and the tune fixed all of it, now it runs like a champ all through the rpm's.

Doesn't look like it really was falling on its face... You picked up over 21mph after the 1/8th... Whataya want, a miracle? Those runs are in line with similar cars netting similar 60's and 1/8th mile ET's. Check the TS database to see how you measure up. I think it's pretty much normal.

Good luck nailing a 12... You can do it.

Good numbers with bolt-ons. If you get a tune and run later in the year with better air you will drop that ET. Mine would run about 3 tenths slower in the humid summer Midwest air than the cool dry fall air.

You ever run at the track in Earlville at Tri State Raceway? I was there once when it first opened to watch some races but have never raced at that track. Have always wanted to drive up there with the 97 but haven't had the chance.

We generally prefer going to Cedar Falls. Hopefully if I don't sell the car I will end up going up a few more times and try and get that better slip

Great job, I'd be real happy with those times! Definitely get a mailorder tune, that will put it in the 12's easy. Maybe toss in some LT4 valve springs and some 1.6RR's to increase the top end a little.

The numbers seem about right to me, I'm sure it's got a 12 in it as it sits.

How many miles are on the car? Thats a really good time. My old car with similar mods but no headers only trapped 98. I had higher miles and am wondering how much mileage affects the power of these engines and when it start falling off.

The car is at around 106,8XX miles. Haha during one of the runs the car was at 106660. We thought the car was surely going to blow up being a devil car lol

Still trying to decide whether or not I want to keep it or sell it and buy a low mileage C5 for the next summer. We'll see what happens. The car running pretty well makes the thought of selling it harder

You should also post in the midwest section under "Iowa's fastest cars?". Thats where most locals get information on when other guys are going to the track. Come up with us sometime!

Id say MPH seems low, but it is a stalled auto we're talking about.

Definitely get the tune dialed in though.

Marc

I think the results seem pretty good especially being that the weather is on the hot/humid side lately.

DA looked to be 3000+ from 12 noon - 3 p.m Sat.

better air, better 60ft and it will be a 12 sec ride

The car would need to be scanned to see what is going on with the stated falling on it's face up top.
