Default Shorty/Mid length questions

Need some oppinions on mid/shorty headers. Been looking at pacesetters, edelbrock, hooker and Mac. Leaning toward Pacesetters but any info would be appreciated.

I have hookers. I didn't install them but plug access is 100x better than it was with my old pacesetter longtubes. They are rusted because they aren't coated but don't leak.

Emissions. I can get away with Mids but LTs would be iffy and I'm not gonna try it.

LOL, our cars make it hard to see headers... Ugly and perform very well vs. good looking and barely usefull....

RKSport also makes a mid-length header and Arizona Speed & Marine makes a header that they call a long tube but by looking at them they appear to be a mid-length. Whichever header you choose I would suggest getting 1 3/4" diameter primaries so you don't choke the car if/when you perform more mods in the future.

MACS are the best midlengths. I love mine. Plugs are easy to get to and to me, my coated ones look great.

I have Pacesetter ceramic coated mids I got new off of Ebay with a coated y-pipe. Fit up ok, I had to dent 2 primaries on drivers side to clear steering shaft/knuckle but otherwise they bolted right in. I also am having a little trouble with the coating on the y-pipe. I think there is a specific break in procedure that you are supposed to follow for ceramic coatings. I either did not wipe the pipe down enough after install or the coating got something splashed on it b/c the y-pipe(only the y-pipe not headers) has burnt the coating off. The headers are still in great shape. I installed them 4 1/2 years ago with copper gaskets that came with them and stainless 6 point arp bolts. No leaks from the header to the heads, but slight leak from header to y-pipe. Y-pipe is actually coming off tonight to be re-coated.

A 350 cubic inch motor will not be choked by 1-5/8 headers by any means that was the job of the stock manifolds. The 1-3/4 dia. do offer alot of space to grow and of course the 1-7/8+ for fully modded high comp. motors.

Yea nashville has emissions I'm actually in Williamson county which is worse. So is the claim of 29 rwhp on the macs true or a selling pitch cause that seems like alot lol. One more thing, if I go Macs would I benefit from jet coating them?

I like my BBK shorties bought the car with them on it tho, I would have done long tubes myself. However, my shorties are ceramic coated, and flow worlds better than a factory manifold anyway

I say go with Mid-Length. First thing i bought for mine were BBK chromed shorties and now that I have done Heads/Cam and bolt ons I feel the shorties are holding me back as far as making power. Fitment was good and i got the chrome and they still look good and ive had them from roughly 3-4 years. Now im trying to get rid of the shorties and go with LT.

check out my for sale thread in my sig. You get the high flow cats and coated headers and they are 1 3/4". This setup new was around 1200

I Loved my macs. they are a very good designed header that gave plenty of clearance. I still have them and there in good shape. PM me an offer if youd like
