Default Piston to valve clearence.

I have a '96 LT1 Vette with a stock bottom end. The cam I'm running is a .226/230 .565.565 111lsa. I also have 1.6 Comp Cams Roller Rockers. I'm going to use a Victor-Rienz .026 head gaskets. My heads are AFR 195 street eliminators out of the box except for a spring upgrade.

Should I bother checking PTV clearance or am I safe? What is the minimum clearance anyway? .150 ?

Thanks in advance

CompCams, and others, recommend a minimum of .100" intake/ .125" exhaust.

I thought it was .80/.100??

Anyways youll be fine. I run a bigger cam, milled heads .030 and the same thickness gaskets. I clay tested mine and it had tons of room, with that said it never hurts to double check.

you can run tighter than .100 in a race motor with regular valvetrain maintenance, but on your average street motor probably pushing its luck on valvesprings? miss a shift and you've got a good chance of needing a new motor. in reality you'll need to run quite a camshaft to run into ptv issues. granted im running an aftermarket piston, but im running 30+ degrees bigger and much tighter lsa than the OP and ptv is getting a little close but still safe.
