Your motor will be broke as a joke if you don't spend some $$$ on a QUALITY forged bottom end for boost.

I want good pistons but I was going to use my stock crank and rods and only shoot for about 450rwhp. does that seen like too much?

450 rwhp gets boring after awhile.... spend the money now so you can reliably turn up with wick later on.

your right. i found a member on here that has a 383 eagle forged crank & eagle forged h-beams. SRP -31cc pistons in it and i was thinking of getting that. He said with the stock heads i would be around 9-9.2cr

All kinds of different opinions on this, but you can make about the same power, just a bit less torque with a 355. Not that torque is unimportant. It is very important, but you can only have so much before all you do is spin your tires, and believe me a boosted 355 will have PLENTY of torque. This would allow you to keep your stock crank and have a smaller machining bill on top of it. There are still advantages to the 383 though for certain applications so do your research. It doesn't sound like you're building a totally *****-out racecar though, hence my lean toward a 355.

The money you will spind to have your rods reconditioned you can buy new forged rods. Buy some forged rods and some nice mahle pistons. the crank should be fine.

that 383 i was taking about above is a full bottom end with about 8k on it. he $1900 plus shipping is about $145. then i would just need a cam and new timing set and i should be good to go. then i can sell my motor for a few hundred too.
