Default should a vented opti hold vacuum?

i have a new msd opti and im aware they leak where the wiring goes in. so i put a big glob of silicon over it. i have a vacuum gun an it still bleeds off vacuum but now its pretty slow. i also lightly siliconed the cap o ring to the cap and it still doesnt quite hold vacuum with my finger plugging the other line. is this normal or should i keep searching for another leak?

Shaft/bushing seal let a little by? common route for oil intrusion on 95-97 applications, bushing is not perfectly sealed on spline drive 93-94 cars. What drive type you got?

edit: I take it you're just testing off the car to see how tight it is with one of the vacuum harness lines capped, drawing vacuum on the other?

mines allows are to come in through the shaft/bushing. i know this because the seal on the timing cover went out and the opti sucked oil into itself and arch out on itself. so make sure your seals and wp are both good.
