Default ac question

Hey guys quick question, I need to get my ac up and going again but id like to know if anyone knows a good place to get ac stuff for cheap or is checker or autozone my best bet? I know i need new lines, but as far as compressors go the car hasnt had working ac for like 3 yrs now is this something that if left not working it will go bad or should it be ok still? the ac worked the first day i bought the car then it decided that was enought and stopped working the next day haha. Im wondering if i get the new upper and lower ac lines and get it refilled will everything still work ok, and if not then ill wanna find decent priced stuff asap. Arizona is horrible with no ac.

The heater core won't effect A/C. But are you sure you have the evaporator still? I would think if someone went through the trouble of removing the heater core, they probably took out the evaporator also(which you need for A/C).

OP, Why do you believe you need new A/C lines?. Are they kinked or leaking? I wouldn't just automatically start buying parts because they could still be good. You may just need to recharge the refrigerant.

Passenger side of the engine compartment, at the firewall. You should see 2 lines, one small and one larger going to it. Plan on needing a new compressor too. After sitting idle this long, the seal in it will be shot. You'll also need a new orifice tube and a new dryer.
Rejuvenating an A/C system like this won't be cheap, and you'll be money ahead in the long run if you take it to a shop that knows what they are doing.

Head to the wrecking yard. Check to see if you still have a condensor. It sits in front of your radiator, and looks like a small version of your radiator. If both are missing, salvage is your best option.

If all you're talking about is the condenser and evaporator, as long as they mount the same way I'd say yes. Don't try to salvage any other components or you'll have problems.

one of the lines is rubbing on a belt so it wore a hole into the ac line so thats why i know i need to replace those. Other than that the ac hasnt worked in like 3yrs. Soooooo from a post above that means my compressor is probably crap and ill need to replace everything right?

More than likely. The seal in the comprsessor won't have taken kindly to sitting for that long.
