Default 2-bar or 3-bar needed?

All-

I have all my parts...I'm about to start ripping the car down and swapping in my complete drivetrain. It's a procharged 383, will only boost 8-12 PSI total. I called Speed Inc yesterday to ask where they are on dyno time appointments (how far out, etc) and asked about what I need to do differently (if I need to change out any sensors, add or remove anything) for a speed density tune VS. MAF. He mentioned that I needed to use a 3-bar MAP sensor. I didn't tell him that I was only boosting 8-12 pounds. Is a 3-bar really necessary, or should I stick with the 2-bar that I already have?
BTW, it is an LT1 motor, but does have EFI connection, so it uses LS1 computer, harness, and ignition. Thanks in advance for your advice. ::

You don't have to go 3 bar with that any of boost. The stock stuff will work on a 2 bar tune

If you are going to run 12 psi of boost that is definately within the 2 bar map sensor's range.

You always want to select a sensor that is correctly sized and anyone with < 1 bar boost a 2 bar map is good. The 2 bar map will allow some growth without reducing sensor resolution for boost range you won't use (>1 Bar)

I have a 2 bar on my drag car and have gone above 1 barboost but will stick with it until I go >16 or 18 psi. Simply not worth the loss of resoluton or the cost.

Supercharged are easier to tune since the boost is RPM related compared to a turbo where the boost can be maximum or minimum at almost any RPM.

I recommend you stick with the 2 Bar Map.

Good luck

Thanks for the info and advice. Looks like I don't have to buy a 3 bar, and tuning might be a bit cheaper!
