Trans maybe?

Trans maybe? my car when in drive and I floor it, the car is very sluggish off the line and will work its way up speed.
But when I put the car in 2nd gear, cuz my car is a 93 and only 2nd gear is as far as I can go down on the shifter. When in 2nd gear and I floor the car leaves like a bad out of hell and chirps the gears and leaves tirepatches..What can cause this and why would it. Is my trans bad or is there something else to worry about.

Sounds kinda like it's not going into first gear. You could try putting it in 2nd from a stop and see if it feels the same. If it does I would think first is gone. But I don't know much about transmissions especially autos...
