Default Is it time for me to go to stepped headers with my setup?

I have pulled my engine from the bottom and it is going to get freshened up. Anyhow I SHOULD be making about 700 horsepower to the flywheel with a 250 shot. I am curious if the stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers is definantly needed.

Now if I am only going to be losing 20rwhp over the 1 3/4 only headers I am not sure I want to spend 1000 bucks for those kook ones! I know I can get LPP headers but I heard you have to bash a tube or two to get them to fit(kind of defeats the purpose of having stepped headers, right?)

So am I looking at over 20rwhp loss with 1 3/4 headers compared to stepped ones?

If you need something bigger than 1 3/4" why not just go with a 1 7/8"?

eh... im thinking a 17/8 stepped to 2", 4 inch collector. me heads are gonna get alot of work when i go solid roller. offest the pushrod/lifter weld the pinch and take em out to ~ 240 cc. i really want to hit 700 fwhp n/a. we'll see how the budget turns out lol

So I need more than the stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers? Guess I saw that coming. Does anyone sell 1 7/8 headers or is the only option customize ones?

you need stahl flange adapters, hedman makes a 1 7/8 x 3.5" set.

Hey wicked94z or anyone who knows. Are these the correct part numbers for the LT1 engine? Both of them show for a 93-97 camaro.

One is standard port and the other is spread port. Which one do we need? Also if I'm not mistaken either one or both of these say OVAL cylinder head port shape. Is this ok to use on ours?

standard flange style

spread port flange style
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-65387/

Also since these say for a 93-97 camaro do we still need those adaptor plates wicked94z showed us? Also I am getting myself so confused on what exactly these adaptor plates do? What exactly is the machine shop suppose to do with them? Thanks for any help.

Of the people I have heard talking about the 2nd design, there is no bashing of any tubes. Check out Kyle's (Formula383) install pics LPP header install I just ordered a set.
