Default Spark Plug #8 keeps shooting out!

Anyone have any idea what is going on here? spark plug #8 came out once then i tightened it back up, i'm almost positive it wasn't cross threaded, then last night when i was driving back home and it shot back out.

shot out like blew out of the engine ? or shot out like loosened up ? if it shot out of the head you have a SERIOUS issue...

I would say either the plug wasn't tight or the head is stripped.

Ive had that happen to my #1 cylinder before. The previous owner had stripped the threads in the head. I ened up having to pull the head off and helicoil repair. Be careful though, the heilcoil gets very close to the valve seat!

If you dont wanna fix it, you could buy a set of used stock heads for fairly cheap.

It could be possible you aren't making the spark plug tight enough. Try again with a lil more torque.

If it keeps coming out, either you suck at tightening it or the threads in the head are stripped.

if you do that you run the risk of just messing up the head more if the threads are already gone. try to get in there with a small mirror or try to take a picture of the spark plug hole

Helicoil! Even with the tiniest amount of room I was able to tighten my #8 plug up until it stayed, you have larger problems. Take the head off, and either helicoil it or buy a cheap used set. If you buy a used set you may want to take them by a machine shop and have the head checked for straightness so you don't put it on and have a gasket problem.

If youre on any sort of budget you can buy a rethreading kit. You can re-tap the hole with a larger size, put an adapter in and then put the spark plug back in. Its not recommended as a long term repair, but my friends had his done for about a year now and he autocrosses his car without problem. Just somethin to think about.

Yea thats IF the threads are fubar'd to begin with. We all know how much of a pain it is to work on LT1's, sometimes its hard to get a wrench on it. I would think the OP could tell if the threads were indeed gone by how it threads in.

Sorry, I forgot to update everyone on what happened lol. I bought a new spark plug and was going to just do a temporary fix which was to use lock tight on it and then pull the heads when i had money. Well i bought everything and in the process of putting the spark plug in the hole, the spark plug just went into the head lol. so yeah the threads went when it shot out the second time.
