Default Is upgrading from shorties to long tubes worth the $$ ?

I have Edelbrock shortie's/y-pipe on my '93 LT1 now. I can't say for sure how much of a power increase I got out of them compared to stock because they were already installed on my car when I bought it.

I've been considering upgrading to either Jett hot's (they've just released an emmisions ver. for the '93's) or possibly FLP's. You can check out the mods on my web page at http://members.cardomain.com/lt1fun

Basically I've done some work to the intake and cylinder heads aswell as an LT4 Hot cam. How much of an increase in HP/Torque would I get from upgrading to the long tubes? Would I see an ET improvment (something worth talking about ?)

Do any of you have any experience with eith these two brands and let me know what you think/recomend?

Are long tubes worth the money or am I better off spending it on something else and keeping the shorties I have now.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

not sure how well the lt1 responds to mods but on the ls1 the LT's are worth it over shorties. i have jet hots and i love them.

since i bought my 95 lt1 i have been on this board and 2 others, and from what i have read the general majority prefers long tubes over shorties. after i get a new set of tires and save up enough green my next project will be a set of either l.t. jet hots or something comparable.

Well, I've decided I'm going to be orering the JetHot LT's sometime this
week (with emmisions fittings). I have to pass the
emmisions test every two years so I don't have much
choice.

I know I'm going to have to change the ypipe aswell
and I was wondering whether or not any of you could tell me
what y-pipe you're using (if your even using one at
all). Or whether you could reccomend one for me.
Hooker? Mufflex? Some have recomended I go to Duel
exhaust but I DONT want to to that. I spent $1200+ on
my borla when it first came out and I'm sure as sh#t
not going to get rid of it for something else.

Today, while I was looking at all the performace stores on line it occured to me that all the advertisments for
y-pipes designed for LT's are all for the 94-97 LT1's.

I suddenly remembered that the exhaust on my car
(1993) is different from the 94+. I have a BORLA
exhaust on my car now. It was designed specifically
for the '93 single cat. Will I have to modify my
Borla at all to get it to line up with a hooker/mufflex Y-pipe? I
also need to find a way to hook-up my cat when it's
time to take the test.

Can any of you help me out? Do you have any links/ pics of 93 LT1's with LT's/Ypipe set ups ? I need to know everthing before I order anything. I'd hate to think I'm about to spend all this money only to find out it wont work properly with my Borla cat back or something. I don't want to have to cut or modify the borla at all.
Thanks.
