I was waiting for one of these threads to come up. If a deal sounds too good to be true it usually is. Sorry for your luck but I would not blame the LT1 for an 80 dollar opti failing.

^I'm with him
Failure = Opti not prepped before install. If it works it works, they don't just die after 3 days.

Yes they cover 1 replacement, I got mine replaced under warranty before I got an AC Delco unit. Just email them and they will send one out.

I caked the red RTV on my Delco unit along with red loc-tite on the rotor screws, hopefully this will last a while lol

How do you know it's the opti? Did you check the coil? There's people running Chandler optis with no problem. If it worked for three days then died you might want to take a closer look.

Agreed. I've been waiting as well.

So, their "lifetime" warranty only covers a single replacement? If so, that's pretty convenient, for the dealer.

Gotta troubleshoot... Ignition components work extra hard when one of them is failing. Not uncommon to lose a coil or module after replacement of wires, plugs or distributor. Next weakest link often fails.

I'm sorry, but an aftermarket optispark shouldn't need to be taken apart and prepped before installation. That's retarded.

I'm not sure recommending an Accel replacement is the best advice.

Funny thing, I was talking to a mechanic today who used to work in a garage that did fleet service on police and taxi Chev Caprices in the 1990s. He said he replaced hundreds of optis. He said they only had GM units back then and some of them went 400,000 miles with cap and rotor changes!
