buy an lq9 out of a denali or escalade from 03-06 and there is all of your sensors, trade the truck pan for a camaro pan and you can get a ls1 k-member dirt cheap, and a computer and harness in the range of $500 dollars

Ya there are a few things missing..lol

LQ9 Iron block $750 (GM Performance New)

GM Performance L92 heads $8-900ish (assembled!)

L76 G8/Holden intake $199

Cable TB with cable bracket for L76 from a sponsor $???

Forged 402 Rotating Assembly (balanced) $1900

I believe this combo is good for upwards of 500hp with the right cam. I have heard the unmilled 70cc heads are great for boosting as well. Good luck!
You left a couple things out bro..lol
The L92 Heads suck for boost..they lift.

Hey:

87TType:
I am fairly new to the LT1 and LS1s im currently building a LT1 and have a few questions. From what I have been told you can put LS1 heads and intake on a LT1.
Main reason I ask is because i would like to know if it would be smarter using LS style on an LT. I plan on doing a 383 stroker turbo'd on ethanol pump gas, and would like to see horsepower in the 500 to 600 range at around 6000 rpms. This will be my first Horsepower engine build so as much information as I can get will help me reach my goal.
I also have 4 years of Auto tech training just nothing on the performance side of things, and currently a Tech as well.
Not LTX but maybe this is where this keeps coming up from:

My bad. But did you read the op? He is considering putting a 5-600hp stroked/boosted LT1 into an 87 T-type. We can assume he has time to sort out a project.

Regardless of which way he powers it (LSX/LTX) he is gonna need sensors etc......and yes there are details like the 24x reluctor/ 2x cam (If he even uses an LS1 pcm) Even then Ligenfelter makes a conversion box to run any reluctor on that pcm.

Maybe I shouldnt assume that he already knows he is going to need motor mounts?

To the o.p. My point wasn't to lay out every sensor, bracket and bolt you would need to put an lsx engine( or LT1 for that matter) into your car (Thats Mervs job ) Only suggesting you check out the L92/L76/LQ9 combo if you choose the LS route. I was only pointing out some of the great prices with the combo. Heads that flow 320+ @550 (4.125) out of the box for 9 beans assembled. Wow. Oh and I know these guys will correct me if im wrong but you need at least a 4" bore or larger for these heads. So the LS1 is out. Check out the LQ4, LQ9 or LS2+ blocks.

How about 550hp from a carburated L92 setup for under $4900?
