Smile Question about Borla Exhaust

Alright i was just wondering how this exhaust works.... i have it on my car was on it sense i bought the car, now the passenger side where the pipe comes back looking at how it just y's off to the muffler wouldnt the passengers side be a straight pipe? i do notice that side is alot louder then the other. I was just wondering why they would make it like this rather then like most exhausts like this that goes in and has 2 pipes that come out of the muffler.

Its due to their design requirements. The exhaust will leave from the area with the least resistance and IF the exhaust is not capped on the passanger side, then the majority of exhaust and sound will leave that way.

As the operator puts in different sized plates (or fully caps) the Passanger side, the exhaust is pushed through the muffler more to deaden the sound.

Borla wanted to sell an exhaust that could incorperate adjustibility. MOST owners tend to stick a Electric Cutout in the plate area section and adjust it in car, on demand.

It was probably just borla's take on how the f-body exhaust should have looked but those plates do make a difference though. With no plate/wide open plate it's just a straight pipe also IIRC changing the plates doesn't affect horsepower, i saw a video doing pulls. Have you tried putting any plates in?

its adjustable. Do you have those plates you see in the pictures. Most ppl put a electric cutout in place of the plates to manually control sound and flow.

I have the DMH electric cutout for mine, it's a really cool mod for the borla. You can go from completly blocked of to wide open in seconds, or adjust to any position inbetween. It's great to leave the neighborhood with it closed and go wide open once your down the road.
