backordered parts...

I'm only pissed at the vendor because I was CHARGED previous to being backordered. And the backorder is now TRIPLE the time they quoted.
They shouldn't charge the customer for something they don't even have in stock to sell. What if they never get it?! What if they go out of business? What if the manuf. never ships them out? It's bad/tacky business to do it backwards.
I still won't release the company name as I don't thinks it's right to do so at this point.

NOW I'M PISSED.
Why is another company that I asked about the parts saying they are drop shipped from the manufacturer and the manufacturer has them IN STOCK ready to drop ship?!!?!?
Cancelled order here I come.

Now if the manufacturer indeed does have the parts in stock you are getting screwed.

I can't believe a sponsor would do that. Like it was said before it's only a few clicks away for any shop to find these things out. If Summit doesn't have something in stock they tell you right then and there. Not to knock any sponsors on here (name was never mentioned so it doesn't matter) but it doesn't mean anything about your shop or business because you're a sponsor. Sponsors pay to keep the site running so they can be the worst shop around but all money spends the same way. It just means they're paying for advertizing and they benefit off us not being allowed to talk about anyone but them. I hope this works out for you.

It depends what kind of vendor you're dealing with. Ebay vendors generally have items in stock because ebay feedback mandates it. Most large sellers like summit\jegs also stock or at least show when to expect it.
The vast majority of other vendors shuffle parts as drop shippers and its a mess. I used to drop ship years ago and companies would say "XYZ is in stock!" Send the money and suddenly its "backordered." Then do you keep their money and wait, or cancel the order?
If you're strapped you keep the order and pray. Its just how it is. So for as much as fleebay sucks, its great for IN STOCK deals.
My two cents.

Most small performance shops do not stock most of what they sell. So when they order something from a manufacturer its the same thing. Jegs and Summit have huge warehouses that the smaller shops dont have. I do use both Jegs and Summit, but try to keep the Mom and Pops shops open vs using big box stores.
Now if the manufacturer indeed does have the parts in stock you are getting screwed.

Which is why I don't order from small shops that don't stock the parts.

I bought my bell housing from a vendor here to date it has been my only purchase from a vendor here. Guy was super nice and made it sound like I would have it in a few days. 3 weeks later still nothing, I call and they say it was drop shipped and I should have it any day. A few days later it shows up, I think the order was lost and my call reminded them to place it! I still never received a receipt for the order, after another call I figured it would come in the mail or e-mail, neither. Not a huge deal but irritates me cause I have a folder with receipts for all the $ parts and I know it's missing one. I try and spend $ local as much as possible but if I can't walk out with it that day it's commin from Summit or Jegs!
