I think he was referring to applying oil on the head of the bolt for a closer torque spec (lubrication). Or at least I hope that's what he was talking about



Side note, my heads are torqued at 75ft/lb (DART specs for their heads).

no. I use a high temp teflon thread sealer on the threads or permatex #2 and then oil on the washer/bolt head. This time I will be using moly lube.

I really think the main reason the gasket leaked is because the coating came off and like someone in this thread stated, it caused it not to be perfectly flat.

EDIT: the only reason I really noticed the issue was because I couldnt keep the car under 194* (value obtained by HPtuners) and last year I had it running much colder. We all know LT1's get pissed when they get hot

NOpe, ARP just uses there torque spec that works, I guess its equivalent to what factory gm bolts would be with out all the headaches. Its much easier and better this way for everyone to install.

3 stages. 25#, 45#, 70# with ARP bolts. Always worked for me.

Me too and I use 10w30 oil as well under the heads of the bolts and washers

Torque angle is the most accurate way of doing it but most get by fine with a torque value on arp bolts.
