they would consider a mid 90s camaro or ta junk and wouldnt waste their time..

i have witnessed a car theft in the suburbs of houston texas.. a box van pulled up to a fairly new mercedes, had the car stripped in under 10 mintues.. i **** you not.. 6 guys jumped out of the van with cordless tools, got the decklid, 4 doors, hood, seats, wheels tires, stereo and bumper covers.. left the car on cheap *** jackstands..
evidently the alarm was disabled because it never went off.

took the cops longer to get there than it took the thieves to strip it..
I 100% agree with you if you are talking about thieves who steal for the domestic market. But you have to take a look at the car that was stolen in this thread because it was not a typical trailer park hot rod. Over here they are commonplace, but in eastern Europe they are rare and desireable. Let's take a typically modded Trans Am with 400-500hp. That is a car that will win races with Euro exotics and look damn good. They have no snob value here, but over there they see us guys racing them on YouTube and think "Man, I want one of those."

Very true, but most of the time people ditch a vehicle in the water after they are done joy riding around in it. I doubt someone would of taken a car like that for joy riding purposes, it stands out too much and attracts too much attention. Its usually grandmas Oldsmobile that ends up in the water. I have found atv's in the water before, both were stolen, rode hard for a night, and sunk in the lake...

Imo...His car was most likely stolen for its parts, i wouldn't be surprised if the shell turns up somewhere before too long..

Have you checked if there was any public surveillance cameras that might have caught them going by?
Maybe a small business, or some parking lot monitored by camera. To get a glims of who it was.

I had my 2004 Suzuki GSXR1000 stolen from me and saw the guys on camera down the street, problem was i couldnt make out the plates of the truck in that camera

I have lots of intel with undercover police officers and more than half of chicago pd. There is nothing so far. I can only imagine they drove it into a enclosed trailer and off it went.

Ok, someone didn't even click the pictures obviously.

Car stolen had a LT1 front end, what looks like probably Weld RT-S wheels, and is a t top car. Nothing at all like that car you posted.
