I have a Cam Motion cam in my 383 at the moment, I cannot make a direct comparrisson to my previous engine since I added a point and a half of compression, but the car is more powerful and faster than the previous 383 I had with 1.5 less compression and the GM 847 and all else being the same.

The cam they specced me was very simular to the 847 BUT with more on the intake side and a slight more lift on the exhaust, ILC was 107 and lobe sep is 111.

they gave me 240/242 .050 .590/.605 with 1.6s and the previous mentioned specs.

My car is a 97 WS6 with ligthweight wheels (pro comps) removed front sway bar, no spare and jack, 3.73 gears, 3000 stall, 1 3/4 headers into dual cut-outs at the track.

My 60 foots were virtually identical hitting mid 1.5s with both motors. I trapped 118 to 121 with the old motor and have not trapped below 120 with the new cam, but i have seen a 123 the conditions in my latest outings were much hotter than me bests with the old motor.

I have a 2nd to 3rd gear hick-up I need to fix (have to remove my foot from the gas for ti to shift) but I still ran 11.50s to 11. ohs before i gave up playing with the tranny.

With cold air and my shift fixed I HOPE to enter into a high 10 but we all know how that is, until it happens it hasnt happened.

You'll get much farther down the road if you go with a shop that produces the heads/cam combo together. I know it's cool to dare to be different, but it is a huge crap shoot to have someone else spec a cam for heads they have no idea how they flow regardless of how much experience they have.

It's simple to tell, just look for the posts that are IMFORMATIVE and RELEVANT and there's your 30+, with the occasional under 30 that know how to use their brain more than google.

In ideal conditions yes, but it can happen. Happens in the 3800 NA V6s.

It's funny you say that, you were doing the opposite in that other thread.

Nope. Who needs a cam? I might even scrap the LT1 block an see what it runs.

No, I'm serious. I haven't decided on a cam yet. And I'm considering just scrapping the block.

Oh, in that case just get a ******* 305, 306, 211/219, 847 or hotcam for Christ sakes. All this headache over a custom ground cam for stock heads is far beyond ridiculous.

Custom cam would be ideal. Shelf cam would not be.

The amount of information is overwhelming. Proof, patrolling for bad information Police Captain!
I'm serious. You want to make that claim then show how a custom cam for stock heads is ideal.
