Default Irritating Blinker Problem

So my driverside front blinker has always been f'ed up since I bought the car in 06. So here it goes, the blinker light stays on very very low and when you put the blinker on and actually walk around and look at it blink it acts very weird. I is almost like it is staying half way with both elements on so it has to get low then try to get bright and by that time it is already trying to dim again. So it doesnt work properly. The previous owner has dope a nightmare worth of wiring on this can and i am still trying to line it all up. He originally rigged the rear harness by looping in the ground wire into the light socket itself. So i replaced it with a 98+ harness to do it the right way for the taillight conversion. No the driver side has the rectangular style bulb and the passenger side has the round style. Mind you the driver side is the f'ed up side. Which one (if either) is better than the other, and can anyone suggest something to fix it? I had forgotten all about this till i went for a cruise tonight.
Thanks, Mike
