Yes longtubes will not only give you a substantial increase in power, but they will be a essential piece for making the most out of any other mods you may do.

I will have to dig up slips, but I picked up 4-5 tenths in the 8th after installing pacesetter long tubes on my old 95 Z auto.

That's a pretty big deal for a single cat car.

I gained 4-5 tenths and about 4mph from completely stock exhaust with a cutout ---> LPPs and LPP ory.

Yes I also deleted the cat. I was running a Hooker catback also. I went from manifolds with no cat, and a slp loudmouth (previous owner) to pacesetter LT's, ORY and hooker catback.

What are these LPP headers I keep hearing about?
