Fuel economy
What are you guys getting for highway fuel economy? Anyone find good ways to improve f-body fuel economy aside from taking it easy on the gas pedal or changing engines or gear ratios?
I get 19-20mpg highway if I baby my car with 3.73's and ~400rwhp. Around town or with a mix of town/highway that is a whole nother story because the 4000 stall pretty much murders it.
A tune may help you out a little but nothing real significant. Weight reduction would help out a little as well.
the 30 mpg was on a cross country trip though.I also did once "hypermile" the car, rural/suburban driving and got 26 mpg. That was definitely repeatable because I did the same trips with my lt1 caprice (automatic/heavier) and got 23 mpg.

You'll improve fuel economy by driving slow (speeds below 55mph).
Clean air filter, fuel filter, and injector cleaning might help some too. I got the best mpg by running tires at 32psi

I think you can improve it some (24mpg) but it will never be like a 4cyl civic/accord tho. My accord (4cyl) gets 36mpg doing 70mph.
Once I finish my rebuild with a 4000 stall and bigger cam I'll be lucky if I get 10.
I got 30 mpg averaging over 70.
For the M6 car's 55mph would be too slow, since you dont want it to lug.
For the A4's i think the 55-65mph would be better.
With my M6 rear gears (3.42's) i was getting 1,700rpm@70mph in 6th gear.
I am about due for new front brakes (pads and rotors are worn out). Would a low drag "race" brake setup like the Strange setup provide a significant improvement and still be streetable?
I am also considering a new set of rims. Anything to look for besides lightest weight for the best fuel economy?
My old 388ci only got around 250 highway and 140 city.
My new 396ci I don't even know.
