how high of rpms is too high
OP, are you going to post up your chart? I'm curious what it looks like also. My dyno chart gets all choppy around 5600 with the hotcam, still haven't figured out why. I can't feel it when driving it though, it feels like it pulls smooth.
for what its worth my buddy has a basically stock lt car i set the shift points at 5600 based off the dyno graph.....he insisted it shift at 6000......so i set it to 6000 and he lost .15 and almost 3mph......more rpm isn't always better espically with smaller cam motors......you gotta base it off your dyno chart.......you want to be making the same amount of power at the entraance to the next gear as you are when you come out of the last gear........ie 400 hp @ 6500 out of 2nd gear and 400 hp at 5500 into the bottom of 3rd gear.......good rule of thumb to follow
My car's PEAK hp is at 6000rpm, I shift at 6200-6300, rev limiter is set at 6500
Peak torque is at 5000 rpm's so I'm usually shifting at just above max hp and starting the next gear near max torque.
Cam is a CC305, tranny M6, Gear 4.10
