Default Help! Codes 16 and 22

I've been chasing these codes for a year now. Several different optis, several different TPS. In the end I finally just went with a GMPP opti and TPS. Still same probs. Could it be grounds? Im out of ideas. Please help.

The code 16 indicates a loss or intermittent loss of the low resolution signal from the optispark. Since you have tried numerous optis, that leads me to believe the fault is in the wiring and/or harness connector/connections.

Instead of replacing the TPS, you need to check the voltage at idle. The blue signal wire should be between .2 and .9v at idle with the key on, engine off. It should then increase by about 4v more than your idle voltage at WOT.

I replaced the small harness that connects to the opti. I also tested all 4 wires for continuity. I had the car running and plugged in to the snap on code reader and i was reading 0 no matter how i positioned it. Is it possible that the sensors in line with the TPS could be burning out the TPS?

There aren't any sensors "inline" with the TPS. It's a direct shot to the computer. Maybe you are getting a poor connection at the computer that is causing both problems? Of course you can check grounds, too (at the coil and the one above the starter on the block).

Not quite close enough I hate to say haha. I just wondered since you said you had PCMforless test your PCM, and they are close to me.

Do you have a voltmeter and know how to properly use it?

Nope nothing in line with it......there are three wires going to the TPS sensor.....one is a ground....one is a +5 Volt refernce from the computer and another is the signal wire which should range from .5-4.8ish Volts from 0-100% throttle. Make sure that +5V is being supplied if its not theres your issue. I chased an isssue like this once on a 95 like mine, it wound up being the pins in the connector that plug into the computer. Some water had got in there and some of the pins were corroded. I replaced the pins and it was fine. It could even be your ECM starting to go south.

Do you remember what color the connector was on the PCM and what pins they were?
